Oculon is the god of knowledge, and the keeper of information. They are also the deity of history, mathematical thinking, and intelligence. The god of knowledge is seen as a Neutral deity within the main pantheon and Major Circle . They are represented as a humanoid-esque figure with loose robes, yet their gigantic form and skin is covered with a plethora of small eyes, and seven large eyes on their face. The eyes are of all types and shapes, not only humanoid. The majority of eyes are open, but many are closed too. More artistic depictions show them as simply having the seven main eyes, two of which are closed.
Oculon is said to know everything that anybody would ever know. It is often said that Oculon's open eyes represent all the knowledge that is kept and/or recorded amongst the people and history of the world, while the closed eyes represent knowledge and information that is forever lost in history, never to be recovered. They are also the sibling of Quietus, God of Ruin .
The main tenet of Oculon is as follows,
Other common tenets include,
Those who wish to pass onto the afterlife with Oculon's blessing have to be confident that they truly aided in the quest towards preservation and spreading of knowledge, since the deity will know if they ultimately did not, and will not shelter them if so. It is said that the afterlife which they provide if one was successful is an afterlife where one's spirit is allowed to read and reread all of the written texts which sapience has ever created (and that has not been completely lost to history), in a holy afterlife library that Oculon keeps. There are other intellectual Oculon-worshipping spirits in this library, and lots of space and time to debate and read whatever new texts sapience writes up.
"May you keep Oculon's eyes open," is a common saying amongst the worshippers of this deity, representing their devotion to learn, catalogue, and spread any and all knowledge. Common practice amongst their devoted followers is to keep a daily journal/diary of the events happening in their lives, no matter how mundane.
Their holy symbol is an eye-shaped outline, with an eye-shaped iris/pupil, one which is tilted vertically rather than horizontally.
There are many library-like shrines and shrine-like academies for Oculon, and most keepers of history or knowledge are religiously linked to this deity.
